TAMILOK in EL NIDO, PHILIPPINES

El Nido Palawan is the best island hopping experience that you can hope for. El Nido houses 45 islands and islets, each having its own peculiar but mesmerizing rock and topographical formation. You can also try swimming, beach and hiking exploration, and even scuba diving.
While you are visiting El Nido, indulge yourself in eating one of the famous exotic food in the Philippines, the Tamilok. It has an exceedingly lengthy, squishy, and flabby appearance that tastes like an oyster. Found in the rotten and decaying mangrove trees, Tamilok can be served raw or cooked. But to complete the exotic experience in El Nido try eating Tamilok raw. It can be eaten whole and can also be dipped in a dash of vinegar or a sauce.

Tamilok is also known as woodworm. Funny that the name was coined by when two Americans during WWII saw a Filipino eating the woodworm and shouted “Tommy look!” which is then known as Tamilok to this day.
